Mid-Autumn Festival

The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important holidays in China. It's a reunion time for families, just like Thanksgiving, while in Vietnam, it's more like a children's day.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is also called the Moon Festival or the Mooncake Festival. It traditionally falls on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese lunar calendar, which is in September or early October in the Gregorian calendar.

The common customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival include family members eating dinner together, just like a Thanksgiving dinner, sharing mooncakes, worshiping the moon with gifts, displaying lanterns, and regional activities.

National Day Holiday

October 1st is China's National Day which is to commemorate the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949. There are usually many activities arranged in Tian'anmen Square in Beijing to celebrate that day.

National Day holiday is fixed at October 1–7. This period is also called "golden week" because of the biggest week for tourism in China when people have a week off to reunite with families and take trips.
